WAWZ/New York (Star 99.1) will commemorate the 15th anniversary of 9/11 with The Empty Shoe Memorial. The Empty Shoe Memorial will be a visually moving tribute designed to remember the men, women and children who died, honor our uniformed heroes and celebrate the spirit of strength and unity that surfaced in the days following.
Throughout July and August, Star 99.1 staff were out in force visiting malls, churches, auto dealerships, retail outlets and festivals to collect shoes for the memorial. 2, 996 pairs of shoes – one pair representing every person lost in the attacks at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and the four planes that crashed will be on display side by side in a picturesque meadow in Somerset County. Once assembled by an army of station volunteers, the memorial will be on display from September 10-18.
The Salem Radio Network will broadcast the 2016 Presidential & Vice Presidential Debates. Each Debate broadcast will be anchored by SRN News correspondent Wally Hindes in Washington news bureau from 9PM Eastern-12 Midnight.
