EMF is selling WUKV/Portsmouth, OH (88.3) to Catholic St. Gabriel Radio for $175K. At the same time EMF keeps the WUKV call letters as well as the studio and transmitter site equipment. The Now Newsletter reports “EMF is changing city of license for 88.3 from Portsmouth, Ohio to New Boston – though its antenna won’t move and it’s still a Class A. While WPYK, a Class C0 (C-Zero) at 104.1, is changing city of license from New Boston to Portsmouth.”


TWR leaders issued a call for prayer Sept. 8 as station personnel and their families prepared for Typhoon Mangkhut. Experts had said Mangkhut could become a Category 3 or 4 storm, and it did indeed turn into a super typhoon after passing Guam and barreling toward China.  

“Praise God!” wrote KTWR Station Manager Grant Hodgins on Tuesday, Sept. 11. “We were very blessed that there was no sustained damage to the towers, transmitters or station. The power of prayer is evident. We asked God to protect the station, and he did!”

The storm left more than 80 percent of Guam without power, and KTWR’s aging generator, operating at a reduced level, kept the station on the air.


Core Christianity (corechristianity.com), a web-based non-profit that provides short-form articles and Bible studies for Christians, announced the launch of a new thirty-minute daily radio show. The Core Christianity radio show launched September 3, 2018 on 400 affiliates nationwide. As distributor of the broadcast, Ambassador Advertising Agency has noted this is certainly one of the largest Christian radio debuts in recent years particularly for the half-hour format. The show is also available via podcast. The Core Christianity radio show is to address a growing problem in the United States— people do not understand what the Bible teaches.
