WBHY/Mobile (Power 88) MD afternoon host Kenny Fowler checks in with HisAir today. Kenny says “We’re off the air with no power at our transmitter (we are streaming at goforth.org). Our area took a major hit with Hurricane Sally. 95% of Baldwin County is out of power and it will be weeks before it’s restored in some areas.
Goforth Media has two AM stations on FM translators and one of those towers fell during the storm.
Also, WOWB/Pensacola (WOW Radio) is also still off the air at this time. The station was able to remain on the air until the back up battery back ups lasted. but is now waiting for power to be restored.
UPDATE 5:30PM WOWB power is back on at the studios. Station is streaming now. At the transmitter site, power is on there too. But the transmitter hasn’t come back up yet. The contract engineer is working his way there. (He works full time at a TV station and then has several radio stations he contracts with.). He hopes to be there this evening. If he doesn’t need parts, Station should be back up then.
