WAWZ /New York (Star 99.1) honors “one of the titans of Gospel and the Queen of Soul” by flipping 99.1 HD-2 to feature Aretha Franklin’s most loved Gospel songs.
Aretha began her career as a young child singing in her father’s church. Her first album was a gospel album titled “Songs Of Faith” in 1956 and featured “Never Grow Old” and “Precious Lord Take My Hand.” In addition to more than 100 charted singles during her career, Franklin, was recognized with 18 Grammy Awards and in 2012 was inducted into the GMA Gospel Hall of Fame. She was 76.
Star 99.1 HD 2 is available on the Star 99.1 app, as well as the iHeart and TuneIn apps, and through Amazon Alexa by voicing “Alexa, Enable Gospel Music.”
EMF has added its new Christian Classic Hits format “KLOVE Classics” on a few stations including WAIW/Wheaton IL (88.1 suburban Chicago). KLOVE Classics is also on the air at KLVB HD 3/Sacramento, KLXB HD 2/Cathedral City, CA, and KLVM HD 2/santa Cruz, CA.
The KLOVE Classics format debuted in June 2018 as an internet-only station featuring Christian songs from the 80’s, 90’s and early 2000’s.
