Industry News Bits 8-14-19

This year, Family Life/Bath, NY earned its 6th four-star rating from Charity Navigator since 2013. This annual rating is given to nonprofit organizations with exceptional standards in financial stewardship, accountability, and transparency.

“Every dollar given to Family Life is a symbol of the giver’s trust in us,” says Rick Snavely, Family Life’s president and CEO. “It’s also a symbol of their trust in God. That’s why we take financial integrity very seriously. We want to see the Lord build His Kingdom with what He’s given us.”


The Gospel Music Association (GMA) announced on Facebook ‘Live’ today the nominees for the 50th Annual GMA Dove Awards. This historic celebration will take place on Tuesday, October 15 in Nashville. Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) will exclusively air the show on Sunday, October 20, 8 p.m. EST / 5 p.m. PST. Voting for the final winners will run August 21 through August 28.

Lauren Daigle leads artist nominations with six, followed by for KING & COUNTRY and Kirk Franklin with five. Crowder, Phil Wickham, Tasha Cobbs Leonard and TobyMac each honored with four nods. The NRBMLC Committee has filed comments opposing the Department of Justice’s “re-evaluation” of the ASCAP and BMI consent decrees. Some of those who filed are music licensing industry committees (like NRBMLC) that represent their constituents at the negotiating table with ASCAP and BMI. This DOJ review could lead to the potential softening or “sunsetting” of the decrees. The NRBMLC says “such would potentially be disastrous to our system of music licensing.”

“ASCAP and BMI have continued to resist competitive alternatives to their blanket licenses, and the judges overseeing these PROs’ Consent Decrees have continued to provide an essential check on the PROs’ anticompetitive preferences…”
