HisAir.Net is sad to report former WRDR/Freehold Township (The Bridge Christian Radio) MD/morning host John Gates passed away suddenly over the weekend. According to Johns wife Patti, “A massive heart attack led him straight into the arms of the Savior that he loved, lived for, and served all of his life here on earth,

Salem Media Group’s WFFH-WFFI-WBOZ/Nashville along with Tri-Star Southern Hills Medical Center, One Generation Away food distribution ministry and Fifth Third Bank partnered on its first “You Matter Saturday” event. Over fifteen tons of fresh food was distributed to 273 neighborhood families representing 835 area residents. Free healthcare screenings and healthcare vouchers were provided to 100+ individuals. Numerous others received assistance with personal money management and banking issues. This was the first 94FM the Fish “You Matter Saturday” event and comes on the heels of recent events the station conducted to benefit the Nashville Rescue Mission, Project Search/Monroe Carrell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt and a segment of the Nashville business community via the Tennessee Christian Chamber of Commerce.
WAWZ/New York (Star 99.1) delivers hope to radio listeners on the other side of the world. After some recent studio renovations at Star 99.1, the station was privileged to send some of their used but still working equipment to a station in Nepal. The audio equipment from Star 99.1 will be used in the Good News FM studio in Kathmandu, Nepal. This is the only Gospel FM station in SAARC countries. Led by Mr. Kumar Bist, the radio station broadcasts Christian content in spoken word, online call-in interviews, music, and more daily across the KTM valley. The station is considering applying to the government to expand their reach and broadcast strength. To be able to do this, their equipment was in need of upgrading. The sound board donated by Star 99.1 will be a significant step up and will add a degree of clarity to the source signal. This enhancement of the source signal will inherently expand the reach of their current equipment. The sound board in conjunction with higher-quality mics that were donated will help this station reach people with the hope of the Gospel in an unstable and often hostile location.
