WAYR/Brunswick (WAY Radio) PD Bart Wagner is promoted to Station Manager. He retains his PD/morning show duties as well.
On Thursday, June 4, WMIT/Asheville (The Light FM) will be hosting Commencement LIVE 2020, a virtual graduation celebration for the class of 2020. Starting at 7 p.m. EST, the commencement will feature music from Darren Mulligan of We Are Messengers, Kari Jobe, Cody Carnes, as well as a commencement speech from pastor Clayton King. Shout outs and encouraging messages from artists including For King and Country, Matthew West, Blanca and more, will be featured throughout the event, ending with a closing prayer from Tony Dungy. The ceremony will premiere on The Light FM’s YouTube and Facebook pages, where viewers are encouraged to celebrate their graduate in the comments.
Philadelphia will have a new Gospel radio station soon.
WJBR-FM-HD3/Philadelphia (Philly’s Favor 100.7) will launch June 8th. Jamjackjr Enterprises President/CEO Jonathan A. Mason Sr says the new station will feature Inspirational music and Gospel hits from artists like Marvin Sapp, Kirk Franklin, Kanye West, Fred Hammond, Travis Greene, Kierra Sheard and Anthony Brown.
Bobby Jones will host 5-6am, followed by “The Dee Lee Show” from 6-9am and “The Bishop Mary Show” (Philadelphia’s own Archbishop Mary Floyd Palmer) from 10am-3pm. Bishop Hezekiah Walker handles PM drive 3-7pm.
“Philly’s Favor” will kick things off with a local food giveaway, feeding 500 families in the Philadelphia area. Former VP of Urban Programming for Cumulus Media Ken Johnson will serve as PD.
Yesterday social media accounts turned black in a show of solidarity with protests against racially-motivated police brutality during “Blackout Tuesday.” For the most part the movement drew praises for organizations taking a stand.
