Industry News Bits 4-15-16

news-iconWRVL/Lynchburg (Journey Radio Network) held its 3rd Partner Event last week and surpassed its fundraising goal by 104%.  In addition, the goal itself was 50% above the previous fundraising goal. The Journey PD Mike Weston says, “The Journey staff was amazed to see how God sovereignly wove a powerful theme of forgiveness and reconciliation throughout many calls, in person visits, and social media interaction.”

The Journey shares a mentoring relationship with KSBJ/Houston and wants to thank Jon Hull for contributing as both on air host and coach during the Partner Event.  The Journey is only about 15 months old as a format and the Journey staff is excited and grateful in the afterglow of what was a wonderful Partner Event.


WGTS/Wash DC director of video production, Eugene Simonov has been nominated for a College Television Award, presented by the Television Academy Foundation.  The awards, which mirror the Emmys®, recognize excellence in student-produced entertainment and news content from college students across the country. Simonov has been nominated in the “Best Unscripted TV Series” category for his work as producer, director and cinematographer of the WGTS 91.9 “Words of Hope” video series.   “Throughout the series, it’s always been my goal to encourage viewers that God is for them and they are not alone.  I love being able to create media with the goal of encouraging people that they can get through the struggles that we all face daily,” said nominee Eugene Simonov.
