In the spirit of giving, WBCL/Ft Wayne teamed with Shipshewana Trading Place Auction and Flea Market to give families a chance to Beef Up Christmas! Every day for twelve days leading up to Christmas, WBCL gave listeners a chance to win a beef quarter in our Beef Up Your Christmas Contest. Listeners registered their names online and if they heard their name called at the designated time and called back, they won the beef! Nearly 1,500 listeners entered the 12 day contest.
On Wednesday, December 21, winners picked up their quarter beefs and also were given a $25 shopping from Yoder Meat and Cheese.
One winner said: “Things are incredibly hard right now financially, and the worry of how we’re going to make ends meet has laid heavy on my husband and I. Winning this contest has given us a glimmer of hope in our now very uncertain future.”
Tom Taylor’s Now Newsletter reports… The Radio Music License Committee tells members they have until January 31 to sign a nine-month interim license with Irving Azoff-run Global Music Rights. This stopgap measure protects RMLC members from the looming December 31 deadline from Global. The RMLC’s Ed Christian sends members a copy of the interim deal, but says they need to contact Global for their specific rate.
Family Life, based in Bath, New York, has added 100.5 FM in Dunkirk. Stretching south into Fredonia, the signal adds approximately 35,000 potential listeners in Chautauqua County.
