Glenn Goodwin “Reprioritizing Our Priorities”
As we all know, Christian Radio is more than a job—it’s a calling. We wouldn’t be in this industry if we didn’t feel led to be here. It’s a mission field wrapped in music and moments. And as with any calling, the longer we walk in it, the easier it becomes to drift from the passion that first brought us here. Everyone here starts with good intentions, but I’m guessing that if you’ve been in Christian Radio for a while, you might need a gentle nudge to pause, reflect, and reprioritize. Even if you feel like you are solid in every area, I still challenge you to do just that: pause, reflect, and reprioritize. I say this because as we all know, that over the years we change, the world changes, radio has changed, the tools in which we reach people with the good news…has changed in many ways.
So, take a moment to think back to your first day in Christian Radio. Maybe you were drawn by a love for music that uplifts, a desire to share hope, or a passion for connecting people to the Gospel in a relevant way. That initial spark—your “why”—is still valid. But over time, deadlines, ratings, and responsibilities can cloud that vision.
Reprioritizing starts with remembering. Revisit your original calling. Ask God to renew your heart for the mission. Let that passion reframe your daily tasks—not as obligations, but as opportunities to serve.
If you have been around awhile, you will know that longevity in ministry is a gift, but it can also be a challenge. The longer we’re in Christian Radio, the more we risk becoming comfortable, even complacent. We know the format, the audience, the rhythms. But routine can dull our spiritual edge.
If you’re feeling weary or uninspired, please know that you’re not alone. That’s why it’s vital to build in planned times of rest, spiritual renewal, and creative refreshment. Attend conferences like CMB’s Momentum, connect with peers, and most importantly—stay rooted in Scripture and prayer. Your spiritual health directly impacts your daily performance and presence.
In Christian radio (and most businesses these days), The Juggle Is Real! If you are on-air, you don’t just host a show. You’re also a producer, scheduler, possibly a social media manager, you attend events, and maybe sometimes you’re even a janitor. The multitasking can be overwhelming.
When you wear many hats, it’s easy to lose sight of the one that matters most: being a faithful steward of this mighty platform where God has allowed you to serve. Reprioritizing means learning to say ‘no’ sometimes, delegating when possible, and protect your time for what truly matters.
For my On-Air friends, as we all know, listeners crave authenticity. They want to hear your heart, your struggles, your victories. But as on-air personalities, we walk a delicate line. We’re called to be real, but not to the point of oversharing. We build relationships with listeners, but we also need to protect our private lives and families.
Being authentic doesn’t mean being unfiltered. It means being prayerful and intentional about what you share. Ask yourself: “Is this story pointing people to Jesus, or just to me?” And remember, it’s okay to keep some parts of your life sacred and off-air.
Christian Radio is a sacred stewardship, and I Thank God that He has allowed me to work in such an amazing field. Remember: every word you speak, every phone call that you answer, every moment you share has the potential to impact eternity. That’s why reprioritizing isn’t just a productivity exercise—it’s a spiritual discipline. So take time this week to reflect. Revisit your calling. Reevaluate your schedule. Reconnect with God. And remember: the platform that we have been entrusted with, is more than a tool—it’s a testimony.
