Brian Wright “Holiday Ideas”

Holiday Hotline Number: This is a real good promotion to set up appointment listening, which is a direct link to increasing TSL. Here is how it works. You tell listeners to listen at several specific time windows of the day. When they are the first caller, at after the Holiday Hotline Cue To Call, they get to guess the Holiday Hotline phone number. You give them the first three numbers of the seven digit number. They guess the number, you then play the pre-produced sounder that is the phone ringing, then…It is either the Holiday Hotline operator telling the person they just won or it is the traditional series of tones with the operator saying, “The number you have dialed is no longer in service…” You can have a lot of fun with this. Make sure you make the prize significant. To add a twist to this, you can announce additional digits every Thursday, BUT the listener still has to give the correct order of the numbers. *Make sure you tell you listeners to keep track of ALL the incorrect number to increase their chance of winning.

Secret Gift Giver: Designate someone in your area as the Official Secret station Gift Giver. Give clues each day on the air, social media and email to your loyal listeners to narrow down who the mystery person may be. The first listener who walks up to them or calls them direct and asks, “Are you the station Secret Gift Giver?” wins a significant prize. Make sure the mystery person knows to only say yes if the phrase is asked exactly the same way as above, no exceptions.

Best Christmas Ever: Over the next few days have listeners submit names of families that are less fortunate than many. After reading through the submissions, let you listeners choose 3 families to contact. Each family will win a Christmas shopping spree, making it their best Christmas Ever. Contact each family and get their permission to record a conversation between you and them on the air. Your listeners will really appreciate what you are doing for your community.

3 Song Holiday Hit Package For Free Prizes: Run promos that specify 3 holiday songs that will be played back-to-back sometime during the next amount of time. When they hear all three songs played back-to-back, they simply have to be the X # caller to win great prizes. *You can send  a text, e-mail, IM and post on social media what 3 songs to listen for.

The Great Christmas Gift Exchange: The day after Christmas have listeners call in with a gift that they want to exchange with other listeners. Jessica has a Starbucks gift card and Tom would like to trade for his Bed, Bath and Beyond gift card. You can have lots of fun with this.
