Brian Curee “Podcasting in the Metaverse – The Future of Broadcasting?

As many of you know, podcasting continues to grow as we approach 2023. And what’s even more exciting is that you can now do it from the metaverse! For those unfamiliar with the term, the metaverse is a virtual reality space where people can meet and connect with each other worldwide. It’s basically like being in a video game, except instead of fighting zombies or exploring imaginary worlds, you’re interacting with real people in real-time.  And it’s where the future of podcasting might be headed.

With the recent introduction of platforms like Meta Quest Pro, Oculus Quest 2, and Horizon Worlds, the metaverse is becoming more and more of a reality. And what better way to take advantage of this new technology than by broadcasting your podcast in a virtual world? Our team at Killer Bee Marketing has been hosting a live show every week since September, and on October 26, 2022, we launched the podcast “The Stories We Live: Real Stories Told In The Metaverse”  on Apple Podcast, Spotify and iHeart.

Imagine being able to connect with your audience in a completely immersive environment. No longer would you be limited by the constraints of time and space. You could meet with anyone, anywhere, anytime. Even the voice of ESPN’s SportsCenter! That’s right, we met Rick Party, the voice of ESPN’s SportsCenter in Horizon Worlds, and he joined us live at the Killer Bee Studios to share his story and how he is using the metaverse to impact lives. Check out that podcast episode to get an idea of podcasting in the metaverse.

Podcasting in the metaverse may be the next way broadcasters could connect with their community from around the world in the presence of their own home!

The Benefits of Podcasting in the Metaverse

Podcasting in the metaverse has many benefits over traditional podcasting. First and foremost, it allows you to connect with your audience in a completely immersive environment. Plus, you can meet with anyone, anywhere, anytime. Not only will you be able to interact in real time, but the visuals and sounds of the virtual world can help bring your podcast to life. For example, before our shows, we meet all our guests outside the studio by the firepit. We roast marshmallows and catch up with one another. During the Christmas season, our developers transformed the outside of the Killer Bee Studios into a winter wonderland where visitors can build a snowman, take selfies, and watch snowflakes fall from the sky.

Second, people are more likely to share their true thoughts and feelings behind an avatar. From our experience hosting live shows at the Killer Bee Studios, we’ve noticed that people are willing to be more honest and open when they use an avatar to express themselves. During our shows, we offer a live Q&A, which allows the audience to be part of the show and is proven very popular. To put another spin and encourage live interaction, the audience receives points for asking questions during live shows.

And finally, broadcasting in the metaverse is just plain old fun! Something is exciting about being one of the first podcasters to take advantage of this new technology. Not only will you be on the cutting edge of podcasting, but you’ll also have a leg up on your competition when it comes to attracting listeners, even though legs don’t exist in Horizon Worlds’ platform at the time of writing this blog.

KillerB Thought For Staying Ahead

As podcasting continues to evolve, it’s important that we stay ahead of the curve and take advantage of new technologies as they emerge. Podcasting in the metaverse provides a unique opportunity for broadcasters to connect with their audiences in exciting, immersive ways that traditional podcasting just can’t offer. So if you’re looking for an exciting and innovative way to connect with your audience, connect with our team at Killer Bee Marketing to find out how our virtual world developers can help bring your podcast to the metaverse in 2023.
