Blue Ridge Broadcasting Receives Milestone Award
Blue Ridge Broadcasting, WMIT/Ashville (106.9 The Light) and WFGW/Knoxville (106.7 The Light), was named a recipient of the National Religious Broadcasters’ (NRB) 2017 Milestone Award. This award is presented annually to an NRB member whose exemplary service in Christian broadcasting for 50 years or more has brought Christian communications to the place of respect and achievement that it enjoys today. Blue Ridge Broadcasting will accept the award at the NRB International Christian Media Convention held in Orlando, Fla., Feb. 27 through March 2, 2017.
Founded on May 27, 1962, by Billy and Ruth Graham, Blue Ridge Broadcasting has served as a ministry for 54 years.
“Everything that has been accomplished over these past 54 years is a credit to God,” said Jim Kirkland, executive director of Blue Ridge Broadcasting. “We at the station and those who went before us have simply been helping the process of delivering God’s message. We’ll only be successful if we stay in tune to the mission that God has called us to. It’s not our work, it’s His.”
“
This announcement follows on the heels of a poignant time in this ministry,” Kirkland continued, “as longtime Billy Graham associate, Cliff Barrows, who was instrumental in the founding of Blue Ridge Broadcasting passed away earlier this week.”
