Your Network of Praise (YNOP) has announced plans for the May 1, 2021, launch of the New Life Africa Satellite Network (NLASN).
New Life Africa Satellite Network will air a format of teaching programs and music, hosted by announcers from a number of countries across Africa. Programming will be in English and Swahili. The network will broadcast via a direct-to-home satellite which reaches about 50 countries in Africa, online and through apps for mobile devices, and will make its programming available to local FM radio stations throughout Africa at no cost.
YNOP Network General Manager Roger Lonnquist said, “We are beyond excited as we think of the vast potential to share Christ and provide solid Bible teaching to millions of people throughout Africa. Our hope is to air top-quality programming, distribute it on as many platforms as possible, and to actively promote it so as many people as possible can hear the good news of Jesus.”
The dream of starting NLASN arose out of the significant response experienced when YNOP started New Life Radio 96.7FM, a station in northern Tanzania, in 2015. “So many people came to Christ in the initial months New Life Radio was on the air that our partner in Tanzania had to start a church to take care of them” Lonnquist said, “that caused us to wonder if we had a responsibility to do more. We held a 2-day board retreat in 2016 and did some soul searching and praying for guidance. That eventually led to a partnership with Uhai Media to operate Radio Uhai 94.1FM in Tabora, Tanzania, and now to the establishment of NLASN.”
Earlier this year Joseph Kebbie, (left) a Liberian Christian broadcaster based in Ghana, joined NLASN as Africa Director. “Based on the passion to see my continent transformed through Christ, the quest to see powerful, relevant, and life changing Christian media, especially radio, blanket over Africa is something that I always pray for. I couldn’t have been more joyful to serve as Africa Director of NLASN.” Kebbie added “As we start to broadcast in English and Swahili, my vision is to see us making this service available in additional languages spoken and understood as we reach the African people with the redemptive power of the Gospel of Christ. As I serve with other ministries, my prayer is to see Christian Ministries work together for the sake of fostering the Gospel in Africa”.
YNOP is an American Christian radio ministry which operates a group of 60 FM facilities in the northwest. Anyone interested in learning more about the New Life Africa Satellite Network is invited to contact the ministry at info@NewLifeAfrica.or
