WGTS/Wash DC listeners celebrated summer’s last hurrah as the “Summer Concert Series” welcomed Matthew West. For six years, WGTS has held concerts on the outdoor plaza at Tysons Corner Center, the largest mall in both Virginia and the greater Washington, D.C. area. However, the pandemic forced last year’s event with West and Unspoken to go online.
On Labor Day weekend, West returned in person to present the largest concert at the mall this year. Over 5,000 people came out to sing, dance, play, and eat free ice cream with the WGTS team. Before the show, VIP guests who support the station were treated to a question-and-answer session with Matthew West.
“What an amazing moment to see our WGTS family singing together on the plaza once again,” said WGTS president and general manager Kevin Krueger. “The message of coming together and submitting our concerns to God was welcomed and so timely. It’s exciting to be able to reach not only our listeners but hundreds of people at the mall who happened to be in the right place at the right time.”
