WAWZ Welcomes JJ Weeks Band
A full capacity crowd joined WAWZ/New York (Star 99.1) for a free concert featuring Centricity Artists the JJ Weeks Band on Monday night at Church at the Gateway on Staten Island. On the same night that Yankee Slugger Aaron Judge was establishing himself as the homerun king of major league baseball, the JJ Weeks Band “hit it out of the park!” according to LuAnn Schafer, Star 99.1 Promotions Manager. More than 850 tickets were downloaded for admission to the free concert to benefit Star 99.1’s current Foster Care Pack campaign to provide backpacks of blessings for kids in NJ’s foster care program. Schafer added “These kids are taken out of dire circumstances for their own safety. Most times all they can do is grab some personal belongings and toss them in a garbage bag. These backpack Care Packs being donated by Star 99.1 listeners at van stops throughout the tri-state area will be loaded with the things they need to make the transition as smooth as possible.” Van stops are scheduled at key locations in the Star listening area through August 26 and will then be delivered to Foster and Adoptive Family Services (FAFS) for distribution.
