Salem Offers Help To Employees Affected BY Hurricanes
In a uniquely personal corporate response to the company’s Texas and Florida employees who were impacted by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, sources inside Salem Media Group have confirmed that Salem’s human resources department is offering to set up a YouCaring site (similar to GoFundMe sites) for each Salem employee who suffered personal property losses during the hurricanes. The sites would allow employees to voluntarily share their story online via photos and a short description of their situation…and to estimate how much they need to raise to recover from those losses. Salem would set up the sites, and staffers themselves would then solicit donations from fellow Salem employees, friends, family, church members and social media contacts.
Additionally, Salem has pledged to match any Salem employee donations dollar for dollar (up to a $25,000 cumulative total for all affected employees.)
One staffer who wished to remain anonymous stated: “After suffering the impact of the hurricane, this gesture by our company is another reason why Salem is such a unique, caring place to work. It’s very touching to know the company is not only marshalling its resources to help us…but also sharing our needs company-wide so fellow employees who want to can help us during this stressful time.”
Individual employee circumstances are being gathered throughout Texas and Florida, and Salem expects to share information on how staff at its platforms nationwide can support fellow employees’ YouCaring sites by this coming Friday, September 22nd.
