NGEN Houston Names Morning Host

4-28-16ngenNGEN radio adds Chris Chicago as morning show host and production director

NGEN/Houston announced the addition of veteran Christian radio talent Chris Chicago as its new morning show host and production director. Chicago will be working from NGEN’s offices starting Monday, May 9 but an official start date for his morning show has not yet been determined. Chicago started his career in Christian radio at 16 years old and brings nearly two decades worth of experience to his new gig. He is most well known for his nationally syndicated Christian hip hop show and work within the Christian music industry.

“In my opinion, KSBJ is one of the greatest, most well-done Christian stations in the country. To be a part of their NGEN Radio brand with its history-making Top 40 format is a such a fantastic and exciting opportunity for me,” Chicago said.

The move comes slightly ahead of the station’s planned switch to the 50,000-watt signal KUHA/Houston (91.7 FM) that was purchased by parent company, KSBJ Educational Foundation, from the University of Houston in February. Chicago said he wants to play a vital role in making NGEN Radio a Top 5 station in the Houston market and impacting over million listeners with the gospel message through music.

For the last 11 years Chris Chicago has lived in the Nashville area with his wife, two sons, and young daughter. He admits the move will be difficult but said he is most looking forward to experiencing Houston’s diverse population, world-class museums, and yearly rodeo season.

Chris tells HisAir.Net he will continue his work with Shamrock and Level Change Music as well as hosting the syndicated show Rapzilla.com LIVE. In addition Chicago does nights for 94.5 KXOJ2/Tulsa and Mid-days from WBYO/Monroe (92.7 Power FM).
