Joy FM Names New GM

John Long has been promoted as General Manager of Joy FM, the Southern Gospel Network of stations operated by Positive Alternative Radio, according to Executive Vice President, Brian Sanders.

Long has served as Joy FM’s Operations Manager for more than three years. He replaces Daniel Britt, who recently resigned to pursue other interests. Long has been with Positive Alternative Radio and Joy FM since November of 2014.

“We are delighted to promote from within our organization to put someone in charge at Joy FM who truly understands not only our ministry’s mission, but Joy FM’s ethos as well,” Sanders said. “John Long is someone we trust to move the network forward.”

Long has a background in communications and marketing that spans more than twenty-five years. He has served a variety of organizations throughout his career including two prominent North Carolina advertising agencies and as communications director for a large local church. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications from East Carolina University where he got his start in radio as News Director for campus station 91.3 WZMB.

“I consider Joy FM to be the crown jewel of Southern Gospel,” Long said. “Serving our listeners alongside this outstanding team is a blessing that both humbles and excites my spirit. I extend my heartfelt thanks to Brian and PAR President, Eddie Baker, for this incredible opportunity.”

“We didn’t have to look very far to find a new general manager for Joy FM. John Long’s leadership and skills make him right for this role,” Sanders said.

Long begins serving in the new role immediately.
