Job Description: SOUTH JERSEY COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR

DEPARTMENT:    Community Engagement & Events

REPORTING TO:    Ben Sorrells, Director of Community Engagement & Events

JOB PURPOSE:    To represent The Bridge in South Jersey, connecting people to Jesus and each other, while strengthening lives.  

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

This is a part time position, based in South Jersey. The South Jersey Community Engagement Coordinator will work with our Delaware-based community engagement team to increase the visibility and awareness of The Bridge in southern New Jersey. This person will be our ‘eyes and ears’ on the ground in the community, advising The Bridge on what issues are important to NJ listeners, representing The Bridge at community events, organizing promotions and events that The Bridge will sponsor or co-sponsor, meet with and advance communications with NJ listeners, churches, donors, ministries and underwriters, and advance the ministry and mission of The Bridge from the Delaware Memorial Bridge to Atlantic City and south to Cape May.

A van, wrapped with The Bridge logo and NJ frequencies will be available for station related activities. The South Jersey Community Engagement Coordinator will mostly work from their home in NJ but will be expected to attend The Bridge staff meetings in person at least monthly. Because many events are nights and weekends, the Coordinator will work a non-traditional schedule that changes week to week. This person will also be utilized for large station events and spring and fall fundraisers on Delmarva.

This position is fixed salary based on an average of 20 hours per week. Flex time will be utilized surrounding large events that require more hours or weeks where there are no events.

This person should be familiar with the South Jersey area, its people, churches and ministries. Knowledge of Christian music, and familiarity with The Bridge is important. Organizational skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision are key. The Bridge is very mission focused and our culture is important to us. The Coordinator should have a passion for serving people, for connecting people to Jesus, and exhibit grace under pressure. Creative thinking and problem solving are a must.
