Director, Promotions

Job Summary

Strategic Planning

  • Develop strategy and ensure strategic alignment for KSBJ and NGEN Radio promotions and outreach initiatives
  • Work with KSBJ programming to create and execute promotional vision, strategies, tactics, events and appearances
  • Negotiate and purchase promotional and eCommerce items
  • Serve as the liaison between the content teams and seek out opportunities for any co-branding initiatives
  • Facilitate off-site activities and maintain the integrity of HMG brand’s presence at all events and HMG sponsored activities
  • Responsible for execution of on-air primary & CORE messaging
  • Identify local events and community initiatives that will support the marketing and fundraising campaigns
  • Develop and execute strategies that elevate awareness for brands in Houston and beyond
  • Ensure consistency in on-air promotional and outreach communications
  • Create new expansion initiatives that increase cume.
  • Responsible for event branding
  • Assist with planning and execution of station events
  • Ensure plans are sustainable
  • Work with the KSBJ program director to develop 6-12 month promotional calander.

Community Engagement

  • Identify, engage, and manage relationships with community leaders, industry contacts, churches and other organizations
  • Responsible for identifying and executing large community events and primary messaging projects
  • Responsible for managing and executing outreach and generous justice projects

Leadership/Communication

  • Oversee organization, efficiency, and maintenance of departmental resources, supplies, and equipment
  • Act as project manager for all promotions initiatives
  • Participate in Core Team and help set the vision for Promotions/Outreach events
  • Collaborate with Corporate Partnership Team on sponsorable promotions and initiatives.
  • Ensure Outreach team, third party vendors and event hosts have all information and/or tools necessary to ensure a quality event

Administrative

  • Ensure timely response to our listener and community requests
  • Maintain focus and tracking of our community scorecard
  • Plan and manage Promotions/Outreach budget
  • Provide reporting on all events
  • Oversee ordering of promotional and on-line items
  • Oversee all promotional support for on-air giveaways
  • Responsible for promotions product inventory
  • Lead all aspects of the On-line order program
  • Provide oversight for execution of all events from set up to tear down
  • Oversee coordination and execution of Live Remote setups
  • Maintain and oversee the promotions calendar and timeline
  • Coordinate volunteers to assist in promo booth support

Demonstrated Faith

  • Pray for coworkers in team meetings
  • Lead prayer in large group settings as needed
  • Pray for donors when called upon to do so
  • Use Christian principles to work through conflict as outlined by the Culture tool kit
  • Participate in Sharathon, PowerDrive and Thankathon, and pray for donors over the phone as needed
  • Participate in ministry wide Christian bible studies
  • Attend weekly Staff Gatherings for prayer and devotions

Non-Essential Functions

  • Secure media credentials, VIP invitations and tickets
  • Any other duties assigned

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or related job experience in lieu of degree

Experience:

  • 5 years experience leading promotions and community relations teams

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Creative and enthusiastic, team player
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office and Google tool applications
  • Radio industry experience preferred
  • Must be able to drive station vehicles
  • Available to work flexible hours and weekends
  • Detail oriented with strong ability to maintain brand standards
  • Exceptional planning and multi-tasking skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to work successfully across multiple departments
  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Strong network of established community connections, preferred
  • Heart for Christian ministry
  • Strong moral character
  • Must be comfortable praying in front of and for small and large groups
  • Has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Spiritually grounded and working knowledge of scripture
  • Must be an active member of a Bible believing local church

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Immediate supervision of a small group of employees. Recommends candidates for hiring, termination; prepares and conducts performance appraisals and salary reviews, and applies company policies.

Working Conditions and Environment

Travel:

  • Up to 2 times per year for industry conferences and networking
  • Frequent Houston Metro Area and national market visits

Nights/Weekends/Holidays:

  • Must be available for flexible hours, weekends, and holidays
