KSBJ Afternoon Co-Host
KSBJ-FM Houston has an opening for an Afternoon Show Co-host. Be a part of an incredible on-air line up with the tools and support needed to help you excel in one of the greatest cities in America. Applicants should have a desire to put the spotlight on the listener, eager to share their real-life experiences on the air, as well as be able to engage listeners in a meaningful and compelling way. Strong social media experience is vital.
Job Summary:
The Afternoon Show Co-Host serves as a member of the Programming Department and reports directly to the Program Director. This position is responsible for effectively engaging KSBJ listeners through a live, compelling, interactive, listener-focused, daily radio show.
KSBJ DJ’s are creative, relational people who enjoy encouraging listeners through the words they say, and the music they play. Success is developing meaningful relationships with people who listen through informing, entertaining, and engaging. A primary duty is communicating spiritual truth in an everyday, conversational manner.
Essential Functions
On Air Show
- Create an on-air experience that draws listeners in and builds listenership
- Confidently share spiritual truth and faith in context that is easy to understand
- Generate ideas for on-air execution
Show Prep
- Create compelling content for on-air show that connects with our target audience
- Effectively prep for, and help schedule, artist and listener interviews and engagement opportunities
Listener Engagement
- Create a unique and memorable on and off-air persona
- Engage with listeners on-air, online, and on-the-site
- Participate in remote broadcast and promotions
- Participation in Public Appearances
- Assisting with Production work as assigned
- Completing “thank you” calls to donors as assigned
- Creates social media content and podcasts for Hope On Demand
Demonstrated Faith
- Pray for coworkers in team meetings
- Lead prayer in large group settings as needed
- Pray for donors when called upon to do so
- Use Christian principles to work through conflict as outlined by the Culture tool kit
- Participate in Sharathon, PowerDrive and Thankathon, and pray for donors over the phone as needed
- Participate in ministry wide Christian bible studies
- Attend weekly Staff Gatherings for prayer and devotions

Requirements and Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience:
- 2-5 years’ experience in radio, public speaking, online content creation, and similar forms of public engagement, preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Joyful attitude and sense of humor
- Strong on-air presence
- Remarkable, compelling on-air personality
- Skilled storyteller
- Proven ability to create and engage a tribe of fans
- PPM-market experience preferred (if background is in broadcast radio)
- Ability to use Adobe Audition / Pro-Tools, preferred
- Excellent show prep discipline
- Proactive and results oriented
- Self-motivated, self-starter
- Good listening skills
- Ability to share your faith in a natural and engaging way
- Is knowledgeable, conversant and demonstrates an understanding of KSBJ’s audience and the Christian culture at-large
- Strong grammatical usage and style

- Heart for Christian ministry
- Strong moral character
- Has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Spiritually grounded and working knowledge of scripture
- Must be an active member of a Bible believing local church

Nights/Weekends/Holidays:
Must be available to occasionally work weekends and evenings for KSBJ events. Live broadcasts and regular public appearances are part of this position.
