Title: On Air Host / Afternoon Show Host
Reports to: Sr. Director of Programming
Job purpose: The On Air Host / Afternoon Show Host will work to create compelling content that forwards Family Radio’s mission to connect hearts to God. From within the Christian umbrella, Family Radio leadership holds to the sovereignty of God and the reformed perspective of the five Solas biblical principles.
“On Air Host / Afternoon Show Host” Key Responsibilities:
- Host live/pre-record radio program Monday-Friday 2-6pm CST M-F
- Plan creative content for radio program
- Operate mixing boards, microphones, electronic and mechanical components specific to the radio station, and computer software used for editing and broadcasting audio.
- Promote through Events and Social Media interaction with listening Audience.
- Creation of production audio in Adobe Audition and Automation Software. For instance, customized radio spots.
- Occasional recording of promotion announcements, features and interviews as needed
- Attending programming department conference calls/meetings as needed
- Receiving feedback and coaching on content and presentation
- Ambassador/Speaker at Family Radio events or representing Family Radio at special events
- Participate in semiannual on-air fundraisers live or recorded.
Qualifications
- Storytelling skills
- Understanding of industry best practices concerning compliance with broadcast guidelines provided by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission.
- Knowledge of constructive interview techniques
- Awareness of Christian content resources
- Proficient in Adobe Audition, or similar audio software
- Minimum 5 years on-air radio and production experience
- Learn and navigate new software quickly
- Possess a strong work ethic, be a self-starter, and exhibit flexibility in a fast-paced environment
- Solve problems using excellent communication skills
- Manage stress effectively
- Work in compliance with company policies and procedures
- Work effectively in a team environment
- Maintain a positive and cooperative rapport with staff, management, and listeners
- Exhibit appropriate professional appearance and demeanor
