February Nielsen PPM numbers from Nielsen are rolling out this week. On Day 2 WCIE/Tampa (The JOY FM) had big news as the station scored its second ever #1 ranking trending 5.9 to 7.0 AQH P6+. The Radio Training Network station tied mainstream AC WDUV/Tampa (7.7-7.0) to claim the top spot.
The JOY FM GM/morning-co-host Carmen Brown told HisAir today, “It’s really great to once again be at the top of the Tampa Bay market, especially when folks are looking for hope, purpose and a view beyond what culture deems most important. On Day1 KSBJ/Houston grew its Cume to 735,100 and was steady at #3 overall with 6.1 AQH.

American University is selling WRAU/Ocean City, MD (88.5) to Atlantic Gateway Communications, owners of WGTS/Wash DC. Selling price is reported to be $650K.
WRAU is a 50kW Class B covering much of the Salisbury/Ocean City market. It will join an already crowded dial of CCM stations including WNKZ Pocomoke City MD (The Bridge from WKNZ/Harrington, DE) and KLOVE on 92.1 WLBW Fenwick Island DEand 105.5 WLSW Salisbury.
WGTS is currently running a fundraiser on the air today to raise the finances.
At KHRT/Minot (106.9 K-Heart) Andrew Hinkel is leaving his position this week so he and his wife can move closer to her family.
Andrew handled Production Director duties as well as airshifts from 10 am to 1 pm weekdays on 106.9 K-Heart and 1 – 6 pm weekdays on 1320 KHRT.

KNWI/Des Moines (Life 107.1) mornings show Mornings with Taylor & Jen celebrates 5 Years on the air. Taylor Hohulin and Jen Green are the hosts.

Dordt University is selling KDCR/Sioux Center, IA (88.5) to Educational Media Foundation. Dordt has operated KDCR with Christian programming since 1968 and will flip to KLOVE on May 15th. The university will continue to stream home basketball, football and women’s volleyball games through their Dordt Media Network.
Dordt University will cease operation of its radio station at the end of the academic year. This decision to cease operation is the result of ongoing costs and limited listener financial support for the station.
