KXOJ/Tulsa grabbed another in a series (8) of #1’s in the April Nielsen. AQH P12+ 6.2.

KXOJ Brand Manager Kevin Davis tells HisAir, “We are deeply humbled and overwhelmed with gratitude to share that KXOJ has been Tulsa’s #1 station for eight consecutive months. That’s not something we take lightly. In a season when so many stations—even in Christian radio—are shifting to national voices and syndicated programming, we’ve chosen a different path. A local path. A personal one. Why? Because Tulsa isn’t just where we work—it’s where we live. We worship alongside our listeners on Sundays, we stand behind them at the grocery store, we cheer with them at high school football games, and we hit the same potholes on the way to work. This is our home, and we believe there’s something powerful about doing life together with our audience. Our commitment is to continue cultivating our local team—real people with real hearts for this community. And through every song, every prayer, every story we share on the air, our hope is simple: that our friends feel seen, lifted, and encouraged. To every friend who listens, who shares, who believes in local—they are the reason this station has a heartbeat. We thank them for letting us be part of their lives. Truly, we’re honored.”

Former WDLM/Moline (Moody Radio Quad Cities) morning co-host Seth Mela has accepted the position of  Community Impact Director for Moody Global Media for the Tampa market. In the Community Impact Director role Seth will be an ambassador of Moody Global Media to the community.

Seth told HisAir, “We will explore ways to benefit the community through organizations, groups, nonprofits, and individuals by connecting the abilities of Moody to those various groups. I am scheduled to be in Florida as the CID officially on October 1.”

Seth was laid off in early June with the announcement of Moody Radio transitioning to a national format. Seth’s earlier Christian Radio experience includes WRXT/Roanoke (Spirit FM) and Family Life/Bath, NY,

Faith-based media organization Pillar Media, recently launched a set of dedicated TV apps for all four of its radio stations — STAR 99.1, STAR 93.3, STAR 101.5, and THE NEW FLO 107.1 — in partnership with All In Media (AIM), a premier developer of mobile and TV applications for the broadcast industry, and part of Xperi.

These apps, now available on Roku and Apple TV for the first time in addition to Android TV and Fire TV, are signaling a change in how radio content is delivered in the home. While audio-only consumption on TVs is still underutilized by most broadcasters, the demand is growing and points to a new trend for CTV and broadcast, regardless of medium.

Salem Radio Network VP/News & Talk programming Tom Tradup offered his take on the Michael Tait news.

Tradup says the 59-year old Tait did the right thing by making a public confession and apologizing to his family and fans, but he adds yanking “Newsboys” songs like God’s Not Dead and He Reigns by Christian stations is unfortunate. “Newsboys performances have delivered powerful Christian messaging with their lyrics which positively impacted Believers and non-Believers alike.  And while program directors must keep Christian stations at the highest quality standards, I hope a spirit of forgiveness and prayer will eventually return Newsboys to America’s airwaves because their Godly messaging is bigger than any one member of the group.”

Yesterday (6/10) Tait posted a public confession on Instagram confirming what he admits was “reckless and destructive behavior” including using cocaine and engaging in “unwanted sensual contact” with men. As a result of Tait’s acknowledgment of what he called “deep shame” for actions he called sin, many Christian-format broadcasters have announced they are removing “Newsboys” music from their playlists…at least for the immediate future.
