The search for the next Minnesota Christian Broadcasters, Inc General Manager has been narrowed down to a small group of finalists. Current GM Ric McClary announced he would retire this June. Ric told HisAir, “After much prayer and discussion with my family and my board of directors, I have decided to retire in June of 2021. It’s time to hang up the headphones at least at the radio station. We’ll see what is next in due time. It has been an incredible 40 years of broadcasting.”
WGCA/Quincy (The Mix) Associate Director Maxine Rice announces she is retiring. Maxine joins her husband, Rev. Bruce Rice, who retired earlier this year. The two helped found and operate WGCA-FM stating in 1987. Both Maxine and Bruce Rice will continue to assist the station as consultants and help in other matters as needed.
“God has done great things and will continue blessing WGCA,” Maxine Rice said. “WGCA was birthed in prayer and sustained by prayer. Only the work of our great God has allowed WGCA to exist.”
Sierra Brown is replacing Maxine Rice on March 1 as donor relations associate. Bob Daly replaced Bruce Rice earlier this year as WGCA executive director.
WBCL Radio Network/Ft Wayne and CSD Group, Inc. have teamed together to create a fun contest for WBCL listeners… It’s called “Crash My Birthday” and each month WBCL selects a winner to crash their yard with decorations and present them with a birthday gift. So far two birthdays have been “crashed.” Watch the video of the first crash HERE.
Andie Rankins has been promoted to Director of Publishing Administration at Essential Music Publishing, a division of Provident/Sony Music Entertainment, where she manages the administration of a growing catalog of award-winning copyrights. Previously EMP’s Manager of Publishing Administration, Rankins led the change for the conception and development of the intuitive new online licensing tool for the company’s catalog at EssentialMusicPublishing.com

Nominees for the 2021 Absolutely Gospel Music Awards were chosen by the staff of AbsolutelyGospel.com and select media representatives. Readers vote for their favorites in several categories.
“2020 was a trying year for our awesome genre of music,” said Chris Unthank, Editor-In-Chief of AbsolutelyGospel.com. “Great music was produced despite a rough year, and we are glad to honor our music for a 20th consecutive year.”
The Nelons landed the most nominations among artists for the first time this year. The popular mixed group landed a stellar 12 nominations for both group work and individual work among group members. The group landed key nominations in Song of the Year (for “Jordan”), Album of the Year (for Peace at Least), Female Vocalist of the Year (for both Autumn Nelon Clark and Amber Nelon Kistler), Fan Favorite Artist of the Year, and Mixed Group of the Year (which they won back in 2018).
The most awarded artist in the 20 year history of the awards program, Karen Peck & New River, followed behind with an impressive 10 nominations, including Song of the Year (for “The God I Serve”), Album of the Year (for Lift His Name), and Mixed Group of the Year. Group owner and songwriter Karen Peck Gooch landed in the Female Vocalist of the Year and Songwriter of the Year (Artist) category as well. The Isaacs followed closesly behind with eight nods – also landing in Song of the Year (for “The Wilderness”), Album of the Year (for Songs For the Times), and Mixed Group of the Year.
Two artists earned six mentions for their work in 2020 – LeFevre Quartet and Triumphant Quartet. Full list of nominees HERE.
