Industry News Bits Tue 9-14-21

Congratulations to WCIE/Tampa (The JOY FM) who repeated its #1 ranking AQH P6+ in the Aug Nielsen PPM. WCIE jumped 6.6-7.8 to own the top spot. This is The JOY FM’s 4th #1 rating in Tampa, with previous #1’s in July 2021, Feb 2021, and April 2020.

The JOY FM GM Carmen Brown told HisAir, “Our being on top in the Tampa Bay market is a good sign for Christian radio nationwide. With the right connection to your audience, consistent programming, and a LOT of grace, this format has proven we can be relevant to a wide audience without compromising the gospel. Our whole team believes in what we do, both The JOY FM and the industry.”

Elsewhere, in St Louis KLJY (JOY FM) placed a solid #3 with a 7.3 AQH. And in Minneapolis KTIS also landed at #3 at 7.2 AQH in a tie with KNOW-FM, KSOS (#1 last month) strong at #3 overall.

On Day 1 AQH P6+ results included, WPZE #10.. WFSH jumps to #4.. KLTY rebounds 2.8-3.4 at #13.. KSBJ just 1/10th off the top at #2 with 6.2.. KSGN #5.

HisAir is sorry to report the passing of KDUV/Visalia (Spirit 88.9) co-founder Judy Peart McPhee.

In 1992, Judy and her late husband Bob Peart felt called to bring Christian music radio to the Central Valley, and the two followed that calling to found KDUV. She faithfully served the radio ministry since its inception, and continued to serve as a board member in her final days. The countless lives that have been positively impacted by the music and message are a testament to Judy’s legacy and faithfulness that will echo through eternity.


HisAir is deeply saddened by the passing of longtime Gospel pianist Jeff Stice at approximately 2:50 (eastern) today (9/14) at the age of 61. Mr. Stice had been hospitalized in Nashville, Tennessee, following an August 28 fall in his home that resulted in serious neck and spinal injuries.
