WAKW/Cincinnati (Star 93.3) has made its annual big flip to all Christmas music. As far as HisAir is aware WAKW is the first Christian station to do so.
From the station website: “We believe Christmas is the most joyful time of the year. Christmas music is one of the few types of music that is almost universal. Not everyone listens to Christian music. Nor does everyone listen to country, rock, or pop music. However, Christmas music is different in the fact that almost everyone grew up at one time or another listening to Christmas music. It’s familiar to almost everyone. Because of that fact, when we play Christmas music on STAR 93.3, we have many new people tuning in.”
As of midnight last night the FCC has started accepting applications for new noncommercial stations. This is the first time since 2007 and the FCC expected to receive a “large volume” of requests for licenses that fall between 88.1 and 91.9 FM. The window to file remains open thru Nov 9 at 6pm ET.
Another open filing for LPFM’s will start after the licensing of noncommercial FMs has been completed.

Just ahead of the launch of their new station on 91.7 FM in Houston, Hope Media Group has produced a video promoting Vida Unida. The family-oriented, Spanish radio station, Vida Unida, will debut on November 10, 2021 at 6:00 AM in Houston. This station will broadcast all music and programming in Spanish.

Recording artist Tauren Wells announces he will be performing in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade this year. Tauren says, “I cannot believe I will be performing on the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store float in the 95th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. I’ve watched this parade with my family every year for as long as I can remember. It’s a dream I didn’t know to dream, come true. Be sure to tune in! I’m council down the days.”
