Hurricane Francine whipped up wind and rain as the storm made landfall as a Category 2 storm Wednesday evening in South Louisiana. Francine packed winds around 100 mph and sent heavy bands of rain into New Orleans and surrounding areas. Roads were flooded and tens of thousands of people were without electricity.
Convoy of Hope Senior Director Radio & Donor Engagement Jared Mitchell tells HisAir, “Convoy of Hope has already deployed to New Orleans as we have prepared for a Category 2 hurricane to make landfall. Sadly, the storm surge and catastrophic flooding are expected to do the most damage. Joel Smallbone attributes the band’s (for King & Country) success in part to getting outside their assigned box. “People love their boxes – their spiritual boxes, their social boxes, their genre boxes,” he said in an interview with Forbes. “But music is a universal language, so I’m not sure defining it by genres is actually as helpful as one might think.”
This mindset has allowed for KING + COUNTRY to transcend traditional boundaries, appealing to a broad audience that extends far beyond their initial Christian music base. Songs such as God Only Knows – a collaboration with Dolly Parton – and Priceless – the soundtrack for the 2016 movie about human trafficking of the same name – received regular airtime on mainstream channels.

With the clock ticking down to the end of the 118th Congress, National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) has issued a clarion call to galvanize the radio industry to help push the AM Radio For Every Vehicle Act across the finish line. Urging stations to “Use Your Voice to Protect the Future of AM Radio in the Auto Dash,” the Christian radio trade group says “time is running out” to get the bipartisan bill passed before a new session of Congress begins Jan. 3, 2025.

WBGL/Champaign has found their new afternoon host. Eric Nichols (pictured at left) starts on the air September 25th. Eric replaces Randy & Monica Zachary who exited the station in June to take a position as Senior Pastor at Lighthouse Assembly of God Church in Coarsegold, CA. Previously Eric was on the air at WTGN/Lima, OH for over eight years. Eric tells HisAir.Net, “I’m incredibly excited and humbled to be part of the WBGL family.”
