EMF (Educational Media Foundation) station KWLR/Little Rock (K-LOVE) has announced its deployment of the MaxxCasting system developed by GeoBroadcast Solutions, according to Radio World. KWLR will join three other EMF stations in Boston, Chicago, and Los Angeles in enhancing its coverage and expanding its listener base. This will be achieved through improved building penetration and seamless mobile reception, facilitated by the MaxxCasting system.
Joe Miller, EMF’s Vice President of Signal Development, acknowledged that downtown Little Rock has been experiencing a suboptimal signal from KWLR. With the implementation of the MaxxCasting system, KWLR aims to address this issue and enhance its overall coverage.
Paul Littleton, Chief Technology Officer at GBS, expressed that the MaxxCasting system will significantly augment KWLR’s coverage by leveraging directionalized synchronized booster sites. This approach enables the station to reach a broader portion of its service area, ensuring enhanced building penetration and seamless mobile reception for its listeners.
Matthew Hogan recently joined the team at KVNE/Tyler as Videographer/Photographer. He will also manage station websites.
Vice President of Marketing & Community Connections Jennifer Bailey told HisAir, “We are super blessed to have him on our team as he is incredibly talented. He also got to go on our stations outreach to Guatemala with Orphan Outreach a couple weeks ago!”
Steve Woodam announces he has discontinued production of the Southern Gospel syndicated show “The Top Thirty Countdown.”
AM radio serves a vital role in our nation’s emergency infrastructure as the backbone of the Emergency Alert System. When the power goes out and cell networks are down, the car radio is often the only way for people to get information, sometimes for days at a time. On May 17, 2023, the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act was introduced. In support of the legislation, the NAB says Congress should enact the bill that would require the Transportation Secretary to issue a rule requiring vehicles manufactured in or imported into the U.S. to have devices installed that provide access to AM radio. It would also, among other things, ensure that AM is conspicuous to the driver in the dash and require motor vehicles that do not include AM radio (in the period between enactment and prior to the Transportation Secretary issuing the new rule) to be labeled as such to consumers in a clear and conspicuous manner.
The NAB has produced broadcast-ready spots regarding preserving AM Radio. Audio can be downloaded HERE.
