March 24-26 WCVK/Bowling Green, KY (Christian Family Radio) held its Spring Pledge Drive, an opportunity for listeners to invest in the media ministry that strengthens faith, family, and community. WCVK PD Derek Gregory says, “Listeners went above and beyond! The goal was met six hours early with the remaining hours focused on raising funds to replace a 35-year old audio processor.”
Moody Radio’s Spanish-language religious WMBI/Chicago (AM 1110) has been sold to El Sembrador Ministries for $1.6 million. The sale does not effect WMBI FM.
The deal does include Chicago translator W292GB at 106.3 FM. Moody announced plans to sell the AM in July 2019.
Trans World Radio reports an explosion in the number of radio based home groups across Bangladesh. After one year of activity, 330 groups were in operation, but as of December last year, that number swelled to 1,687. Bible-study programs are distributed on audio players or SD cards for mobile phones.
The 2021 NAB Show is delayed until October, but NAB is offering a virtual alternative to its usual spring gathering, the newly announced NAB Show Premiere. This 10-day virtual event will take place from April 12-23 and offer exclusive content through NAB Amplify.
“NAB Show Premiere is strategically timed to bring the media and entertainment community together in April when we would normally be gathering in Las Vegas,” said Chris Brown, NAB executive vice president of Conventions and Business Operations. “The content is indicative of our commitment to connecting the NAB Show community year-round and provides a critical touch point for companies to roll out new products.”
