WSMP station manager/mornings Jack Robertson tells HisAir, “Words can not express how grateful we are to have grown & moved to downtown Magee. Wow! The support of the Magee Chamber & the amount of people who showed up blew my mind. To be honest, I’m in awe & pretty much speechless about the goodness of God & the outpouring of support from our community in Magee. Way too many people to thank for being here but THANK YOU!!! The ribbon has been cut & we are now officially a part of the fabric of Downtown Magee!!!”
The station went on the air in 2015 and is locally owned and started in the office of Church Alive in Magee.

UPDATE: The Morning Cruise with Dave, Bill, and Carmen on The JOY FM/Tampa raised almost $400,000 dollars to help survivors of Hurricane Ian in Southwest Florida. Dubbed Hope After the Hurricane, the live, video simulcast event provided essential relief supplies through listener donations to Convoy of Hope and featured personalized messages and songs from Steven Curtis Chapman, Chris Tomlin, For King & Country, Zach Williams, Danny Gokey, Cain, Hope Darst and several other artists.
“It was fantastic to have so many of our artists willing to be part of the event,” said Dave Cruse (Program Director). Each hour during The Morning Cruise, listeners and viewers got a message of hope, information about Convoy’s operations centered in Ft. Myers, and ways to respond. Carmen Brown (VP Network Programming) noted how “We had gifts from all over our listening areas in Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. But especially meaningful were donations that came in from areas affected by the hurricane! Once again, the generosity of The JOY FM listening family was overwhelming.”

Radio Training Network Compliance Manager Bill Harrier checks in with HisAir as a couple items in the “20th Anniversary Flashbacks” bring back some memories.
Bill says, “7 Years ago Warren Bolthouse passing … Warren led a Youth Ministry in Jackson County, Michigan when I was in high school and held monthly Saturday night rallies. He hired me in 1972 to be assistant manager at WUFN in my hometown of Albion, MI, and then transferred to WUGN, Midland, MI before it went on the air to help Randy Carlson get everything ready to go on the air in December, 1973 … and then when Randy went to the corporate office, I became manager of WUGN.”
“THANKS for the stirring the memories … and a continued Happy 20th Anniversary.”
