KEEH/Spokane (Shine 104.9) GM Darin Patzer tells HisAir today his station has not been affected by the wildfires that have forced around 60,000 people to evacuate parts of their listening audience

Darin says, “Yes, it’s certainly caused a lot of damage on the North side of Spokane. Very sad for many, many families. And we’re awaiting air quality trend to see how it will impact our big summer listener-appreciation concert this Friday evening in Riverfront Park.”

K-LOVE Inc is picking up 2 new frequencies from Beasley Media Group.  The stations are WNKS/Charlotte (95.1) and KXTE/Las Vegas (107.5)

Both transactions remain subject to FCC approval and are expected to close in mid-October. Financial terms of the deals had not been disclosed as of press time. This year K-LOVE has spent big bucks for Milwaukee stations WLDB and WLUM at $4 million, and WPBB/Tampa for $8 million in 2025.

Regarding the latest acquisitions K-LOVE CEO Thomas Stultz said, “We are honored to acquire these stations and welcome them into the K-LOVE family. Both signals have long histories of serving their communities, and we look forward to building on that legacy as we expand our mission of delivering uplifting, positive programming to listeners in Charlotte, Las Vegas, and the surrounding areas.”

Last week K-LOVE announced that Hubbard Media would be leasing their WLTP/Braddock Heights, MD (103.9). The station had been simulcasting WTOP/Wash DC

U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson is voicing his support for the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act, citing his own experience as a Louisiana talk radio host and emphasizing the vital role local radio plays in serving communities.

During a recent appearance on NAB’s Airtime podcast, Johnson (R-La.) said local broadcasting provides far more than entertainment.

“It is an important thing for the community. It draws people together,” Johnson said. “And of course, there’s real services that come from that as well. Local information. I mean, in Hurricane Alley, where I live, and Tornado Alley, we have lots of natural disasters, and people go to local broadcasts to get the updates on that safety for their families.”

Johnson’s comments underscore broadcasters’ ongoing push for passage of the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act, legislation designed to ensure AM radio remains available in all new vehicles because of its critical role in delivering emergency alerts, public safety information, and local news.

HisAir Christian Radio & Records Industry News TIMELINE – Aug 3, 2023

WDJC/Birmingham PD Justin Flores checks in with HisAir. He says the WDJC morning team with Russell P (Wall) and Jessica (Borkland) have made such an impact for Jesus in Birmingham that they excitedly accepted an offer to add afternoon drive to their daily schedule. Live a total of 8 hours daily.

Justin tells HisAir, “These two have shown professionalism, truthfulness, and a willingness to try this and they are doing it! Their morning show is called Joyful Noise, where the theme is to wake up with a heart of worship and a mindfulness of God, preparing us to get on with the Lord’s day. Afternoons have been named “The Afternoon Jolt” where they are like that JOLT we need to push through those afternoon projects and wrap up the workday and get home. JOLT is also an acronym for Jesus Others Life Together. It is a running theme in their shows already, but as morning is light and fun, afternoons will deal with heavier areas of life, in addition to the fun factor. One thing that these two are known for is that they always have the Cross in view and redemption is a goal in all they bring on air.  We appreciate your prayers for them, as they may not say it, I know, it’s not easy to bring that Spirit filled, loving fun factor, 10 hours a day!”
