After nearly 9 years at KJIC/Houston Carla Jones has exited afternoons, her last show was Friday May5th.

Carla tells HisAir, “To God be the glory. It makes my heart happy to have played a small part in what this ministry is today. It has been so hard saying goodbye, but it was time for me to go to the next chapter in my life. I’m praying that God will continue to bless the work the my former GM & dear friend Bob Vaughn started 42 years ago. I’ll always feel like I’m apart of the family there, & I’m so thankful for the opportunity to have had a platform to encourage the listeners for the past nine years. I always say, “if I was there to have encouraged just one person, then it was worth it all!”

While at KJIC Carla was past Top 10 nomination for Radio Personality of the Year from the Inspirational Country Music Association.

Carla continues doing weekend/swing at KSBJ/Houston

CBI Media GM Tom Steigleman tells HisAir, “We just switched the format of our existing 104.5 FM translator from KJLP-FM (Praise & Worship) to KVNT-AM (News/Talk). We had two translators on the same tower, with the same coverage pattern both re-broadcasting KJLP, so it made sense to put KVNT on one translator as a fill-in to get a stronger signal in South and West Anchorage. On the horizon we’ll be building KCBR-FM in Fairbanks later this year, it will be a 10kW station. We have a CP for Soldotna, AK that we will build out in 2024.”

CBI Media is Alaska based and operates stations and translators through out the state.

Christian Radio Business:

Daytime Christian station WCNW-AM/Fairfield, OH (1560) has discontinued operations as of May 2nd “due to a loss of the ability to operate its transmitter” according to a Federal Communications Commission filing. WNCW broadasts Southern Gospel music and serves the Cincinnati metropolitan area. The station is owned by Vernon R. Baldwin, Inc.

Founded 59 years ago, WCNW-AM had been operating under “special temporary authority” since 2019, when the transmission line for its 5,000-watt daytime signal was damaged and needed to be replaced. The station had been operating at 1,000 watts for four years. Station operators are “actively looking into alternatives to restart operations and will file appropriate applications or requests for special temporary authority at a later time,” the FCC filing said.

American Christian Radio Inc. is buying the Construction Permit of Northern Plains Baptist Church’s KFCA/Aberdeen, SD (88.1) and New Hope Baptist Church’s KYAS/Artesia, NM (88.7) for $1 each.

At NRB 2023 on Tuesday, May 23, in Orlando an NRB Forum titled “How Christians Are Framed in the Media Today” will welcome a panel of media leaders from CBN, Fox, The Washington Times, and Just The News to explore how free speech, public policy, and truth in media are impacted and even obliterated by false and misleading depictions of the Christian faith. Armed with inside knowledge about how the media functions, the leaders in this NRB Forum will identify and unpack these misrepresentations and suggest steps that Christians can take to help restore truth and integrity to the media’s depiction of Christianity.

NRB 2023 kicks off May 22nd.
