The National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) expressed its appreciation for the Supreme Court’s decision in the case of 303 Creative v. Elenis.
Troy A. Miller, President & CEO of NRB, commented, “Today, the Supreme Court of the United States has provided a resolute and compelling defense of the First Amendment’s protection of freedom of speech for all individuals. This ruling ensures that no government can compel religious broadcasters or anyone else to convey messages that are contrary to their beliefs. It is a crucial victory not only for NRB members but also for all Christian communicators.”
With a majority vote of 6 to 3, the Court concluded that Colorado could not utilize its public accommodation laws to mandate Lorie Smith, the owner of 303 Creative (a web design firm), to create websites for same-sex weddings if she had already been designing websites for other types of weddings.
