Christian Rock KORB/Santa Rosa, CA (Broken FM) announced it will go off the air permanently June 1st 2022. The station will be converting to an all talk format called KFAITH.

Broken FM PD Chris Kuhner says, ” I want to take a moment to say thank you to all the listeners and artists who have made BrokenFM what it was over the years. I have so many amazing memories of live shows, interviews and conversations that I will cherish forever. It’s been an amazing ride but all good things must eventually come to an end. With much love and sadness.”

Last month owner One Ministries sold KORB and its 4 translators.

Family Radio has hired David Shantz as Director of Engineering. Shantz will oversee the more than 65 Family Radio sites across the country and lead a team of engineers and technicians to help ensure that Family Radio signals are fully functional from coast to coast. Shantz signs on with Family Radio this month.

Shantz commented: “I have listened to and observed the ministry of Family Radio since I was in grade school and rushed home to listen to “Big John and Sparky” on a small radio on our stairs.  To now be a part of this radio network is very humbling.  My goal and passion are to be a part of the team that provides the best listener experience we can to our listeners around the country.”

President and General Manager Tom Evans noted “David brings his vast radio and leadership experience to help build on the quality of sound of Family Radio. We look forward to the benefits of his expertise and his passion for the ministry.”

KNWS/Waterloo (LIfe 101.9) afternoon host David Dein has produced a special Mothers Day tribute song.

Davis says, “I spent the whole week asking people to share their Mom’s stories, 26 calls came in and I reworked this song as a tribute to Moms. It came out so well I thought you might like to hear it.”

Through the 2022 “Heartbeat of Hope” campaign held on May 3, WMIT/Black Mountain (The Light FM) listeners donated enough money in a single day to provide 1,844 pregnant women with ultrasounds and faith-based support. This year, The Light FM partnered with seven area faith-based pregnancy centers to bring awareness to their services including pregnancy tests, counseling, ultrasounds and post-abortion programs.

This was the fifth year for The Light FM’s “Heartbeat of Hope”—with gifts received totaling $322,700 in eleven hours of fundraising. Since the inception of the event, The Light FM has been able to raise enough money for 8,884 ultrasounds for local pregnancy centers, with 100 percent of the donations going directly to the centers.

“The Light FM listeners are truly amazing. For the fifth year in a row, we have asked them to step in and support their local pregnancy centers’ mission to serve their community by providing free ultrasounds and care for moms who sometimes find themselves in difficult situations,” said John Owens, general manager of Blue Ridge Broadcasting. “Because of the generosity of The Light FM donors, we are able to send every penny of these donations directly to the pregnancy centers right here in our neighborhoods.”
