Industry News bits 4-3-17

In 1972, Dennis Jones was part of Moody Bible Institute’s first graduating class with the new major, “Broadcast Communications”. That summer he secured a ‘temporary, summer announce position’ with WRVM/Suring WI. It was a LONG summer! At the end of April of this year, Dennis will be retiring after nearly 45 years at WRVM. For most of those years, Dennis served as the station’s Program Director in addition to his announce duties. We wish him well in his well earned retirement. The Israeli government allocated a radio broadcast frequency to an American-Christian evangelical radio network that will broadcast across the Middle East. To read this interesting story go here


Salem reports a  4QT total revenue increased of 2.2% to $70.7 million. Net income was off from $5.3 million to $3 million. Salem broadcast revenue was up 1.3% to $52.2 million, while digital media revenue rose 6.9% to $12.7 million, and publishing was flat at $5.7 million.
