WMIT/Ashville (106.9 The Light) held their annual Impact Days in which more than 2,700 listeners donated over $583,000 over the course of the two days.  Fifty local volunteers were on-hand at the station, located at the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove, to donate time and energy answering phones and praying throughout the 26 hour event. Phones were especially busy in response to the Marcus Challenge—named after a six-year-old listener who gave $4.10 from his piggy bank and challenged others to match his gift. The response was considerable, as approximately $71,000 was given in support of Marcus’ gift. “The Marcus Challenge perfectly illustrated the Biblical lesson of the Widow’s Mite (Mark 12:41-44), and how God can turn a small gift into something huge,” said Jim Kirkland, executive director of Blue Ridge Broadcasting. “This event is so special because it gives our listeners a chance to both share how God has used 106.9 The Light in their lives and to give back so they can impact others’ lives.”
