Industry Bits 12-9-20

KLTY/Dallas morning hosts Frank, Starlene and Hudson celebrated their recent #1 overall morning show achievements. Frank, Starlene & Hudson in the Morning achieved a #1 Persons 6+ for July 2020 PPM, beating out the legendary Kidd Kraddick in the Morning 6.2 to 5.8 share. And they were also #2 Women 25-54. 

KLTY PD Mike Prendergast told HisAir, “This has been several years in the making as this team has continued to improve and do great radio! I’m so proud of the team!

Morning show co-host John Hudson had this to say regarding the numbers, “I grew up in this market and was so fortunate to listen to the best shows & the best talent radio could offer. So honored to be in Dallas! In 20 years we’ll look back at all that God did through KLTY & pinch ourselves that he let us play a small roll in his story.”


With WAFJ/Augusta Station Manager Steve Swanson and his wife Susie set to retire at the end of the year (HisAir 12-3-20) it was announced today that John Bryant will step into the Station Manager role. 

John started his radio career in 1999 through a college internship in promotions at Reality 101.1 in Birmingham, AL. In 2001 he moved to Tupelo, MS to work for American Family Radio in their production department and as air talent then in 2004 he joined WAFJ as morning host.

David’s extensive background as one of the country’s established and well-known Latino broadcast network journalists, makes him the ideal person to lead this new digital initiative with Salem Media Group,” added Santrella.

Cruz began his career with Spanish International Network (SIN), the predecessor to UNIVISION, before working in various news assignments with ABC, CBS and NBC television network stations, as well as becoming anchor of the nation’s first syndicated, bilingual news talk program for CNN Spanish Radio and Radio Centro in Latin America. More recently, Cruz worked with I-Heart Radio based in Burbank, California as on-air talent in LA and Director of Corporate and Community Partnerships in emerging markets. His background also includes working as a crisis media and government relations consultant to legacy Latino organizations and Fortune 500 clients.
