WAY-FM “Hope Happens” Campaign

WAY-FM along with the Compassion Radio Team and ShareMedia Services announces a record breaking event with 2700 children sponsored from last week’s “Hope Happens” campaign on WAY-FM.  This marks the biggest response by WAY-FM listeners ever with thousands of longest waiting kids in West Africa sponsored.

Lee Geysbeek, Compassion International Radio Marketing Director comments, “The WAY-FM team did an amazing job!  I’m learning that when a listener is given an easy opportunity to do what Jesus has called us to do they grow in their faith and become more loyal to the station who brought them there. We saw that happen first hand.  The impact of this historic event will be played out in each child, family and the community these churches serve in for years to come!” 

The milestone event saw listeners respond in more personal ways than ever before.  One example of that connection was from a WAY-FM listener and new Compassion child sponsor Carli, who sponsored a little boy from Ghana named Kojo.  “I had just turned on the radio when I heard you talking about sponsoring the children. I had a strong emotional reaction. When I had composed myself, I just asked God to guide me and make it very clear what He wanted me to do. After the song was over and you guys started talking about Compassion and some of the children, I had another very powerful reaction – God made it very clear He wanted me to be a sponsor and I am so excited to start this journey with Kojo, God, and the rest of the Compassion family.”

WAY-FM’s Faron Dice adds, “We are so delighted with the long standing partnership that we have with Compassion.  It’s so much more than a week-long campaign.  Our announcers are sponsors themselves, and they make the trek to visit the areas and see the work of Compassion before they ask our listeners to sponsor a child. And this model truly works.  We are now approaching 20,000 sponsorships that WAY-FM has found for Compassion!”

The partnerships along with the hands and feet ‘on the ground’ that make an event like this happen are vital.  Jason Parker, ShareMedia Services VP/GM comments,  “Following a both heartbreaking and inspiring vision trip with Compassion and WAY-FM to see the daily realities in Ghana, the passion of the on-air team was contagious. They inspired listeners with an engaging, hope-filled opportunity to change the life of a child through Compassion in West Africa.  WAY-FM listeners responded to the tug on their hearts in an unprecedented way.  Our teams and most importantly the children, families and entire villages are celebrating what God did last week.”
