WWIB “Drive-In Graduation!”

A local high school approached WWIB/Chippewa Falls about broadcasting their graduation ceremony the way their football games are on sister station WOGO. With so many schools going virtual-only for commencement, to the disappointment of many, they wanted to find a way to give their seniors something special.

The result was the Chi-Hi “Drive-In Graduation!”, where 300+ seniors and their families lined up in decorated vehicles at the fairgrounds and WWIB played “Pomp & Circumstance,” and drove in a police-escorted procession through town, where the community came out to cheer them on as they listened to the commencement broadcast.

The promotion became far more than just a graduation – it was a collaborative labor of love with school, station, and community – and a beautiful June night that brought our city together.
