WPER/Fredericksburg Hospitality Council is a group of business owners that get together once a month to discuss local events happening in the community. At Christmas time the Hospitality Council makes a donation to a local non profit in need, but this year wanted to do more. Instead of having a Christmas gathering or the typical cookie exchange, they decided to donate time and volunteer at a local homeless shelter in town. Many from the group met, cooked a delicious meal of ham, macaroni & cheese, mashed potatoes, gravy and corn…and of course there was ice cream cones for the kids and the young at heart. It was sad to see how many people are struggling and have nowhere to go, but it reminded them how they can play a part in the smallest blessing of providing a meal. About 100 people were fed that night.
