KSBJ/Houston Special Events has kicked
off their ‘Boomin’ by the Bay’ concert series at the Kemah
Boardwalk. Over 4,000 attendees gathered at the Boardwalk for
free performances by the Second Baptist Jump Dance Team and
Christian pop artist, KJ-52. “We are thrilled to
provide a concert series with hope filled music that pulls in
such a diverse crowd. The artists and audience exude so much
energy and excitement that it’s like bringing a party to Kemah
Boardwalk every Tuesday night. I’m still sore from dancing,
singing, and groovin’ at KJ52!! It was a blast, but my favorite
part was seeing the lives impacted…the families, the youth
groups, the kids and adults,” said Tammy Johnson, executive
director of KSBJ Special Events.

Memorial
Day weekend in Central Florida is synonymous with the Zellwood
Sweet Corn Festival. For over 40 years, Central Florida spent
Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day weekend camped out in the
Zellwood field waiting for country acts to take the stage. Six
years ago, WPOZ/Orlando (Z88.3) partnered with Zellwood
to bring the first ever family friendly night to the festival.
This year, the station continued the tradition on Friday night
of Memorial Day weekend by bringing in Mark Schultz, Josh
Wilson, Sidewalk Prophets and Robert Pierre. Over 6,000 Z
listeners attended the Z88.3 Family Night on Friday, May 28,
2010. The festival not only included great music, but admission
also included all you could eat Zellwood sweet corn. Over 1,600
ears of corn were cooked and ready to serve every nine minutes
thanks to the help of Big Bertha, Zellwood's own corn cooking
machine. Kids under 10 were free and tickets were just $12 in
advance. In this economy, families couldn't find a better deal!

there are a couple more people that need to know what's going on
here. And it's a lot more than a homeless shelter, I can tell
you that,” said Corey.
