Mike Perry Has Passed

HisAir.Net is sorry to report the passing of WHGG/Kingport, TN (Love FM) Program Director / morning host Mike Perry.

Mike had a heart attack last in January, and was scheduled to have a bypass but developed pneumonia in both lungs. He suffered complications from a heart procedure earlier this week and went to be with the Lord this afternoon. He is survived by his wife Stacy and 2 children.

Mike started his career in radio while in college at Southern Arkansas University.  A friend let him do his show for him and Mike was bitten with the radio bug right away.  He spent his first 10 years of radio doing country music because there was no Christian radio where he lived.  God finally allowed Mike the chance to move into Christian radio when he joined WCQR/Gray, TN as GM.  Mike spent 20 years there.  After leaving WCQR Mike starting working with the brand new startup CCM station in the Tri-Cities called Love FM WHGG.

Please join HisAir.Net in praying for Mikes family, friends, and co workers. Mike will be deeply missed by many in the Christian Radio & Records industry.

What a legacy Mike Perry leaves behind. I will always remember the first time I found WCQR on the radio, It was a warm late summer day and this beautiful music was playing.

Thank you HisAir.net for remembering Mike with your kind words. He loved being behind the microphone spreading God’s love at LOVE FM 97.3. He was definitely loved and will be missed, but we know he is spending time at the feet of Jesus.
