Throughout February KFNW/Fargo (Life 97.9) partnered with Fargo-Moorhead Churches United, New Life Center of Fargo, YWCA Cass Clay Emergency Shelter, and Northlands Rescue Mission of Grand Forks to encourage listeners to provide for people who are homeless in the Red River Valley area during their Help for Winter Warmth campaign.
When listeners gave a monetary gift of $40-$65 to the shelter of their choice, it provided a warm bed and hot meals to someone to help them through the frigid winter months. Many of these shelters also offer counseling to help people get on their feet again. In total, Life 97.9 listeners donated $6,458 which will provide 130 nights of warmth to those in need.
Life 97.9 Listener Engagement Director, Carly Viland, said, “The Help for Winter Warmth initiative gave Life 97.9 the opportunity to spread awareness for homeless shelters in the Red River Valley area and for the listeners to be involved in spreading hope through their donations.
Allison Pillar, YWCA Communications Manager said, “We are so grateful for Life 97.9’s partnership through their Help for Winter Warmth campaign. Because of the generosity and compassion of their listeners, YWCA Cass Clay is able to serve over 300 women and children every day, providing safety, shelter, and warmth!”
