PAR Broadcast Regional Engineer

Broadcast Regional Engineer

Positive Alternative Radio (PAR), a certified Best Christian Workplace from the Best Christian Workplaces Institute, is searching for applicants for a full-time, broadcast regional engineer based in Fredericksburg, Virginia. We desire candidates who are passionate about their work and who strive to bring excellence to everything that they do. If you love to fix things, work in an excited media career, and help people, this is the role for you.

PAR broadcasts in the mid-Atlantic region with five brands of non-commercial, Christian music radio including WPER, Spirit FM and Joy FM. We are focused on clear, honest communication and building a culture where team members feel valued and appreciated. We think it’s good stewardship to bring out the best everyone has to offer to further our mission.

Benefits include paid time off, medical insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, 401K match retirement program & company issued vehicle for work travel. Applications are reviewed and selected for additional telephone/video interviews. Additional in-person interviews would occur as the next step in the hiring process. This application process usually takes 45-60 days.

The position entails providing IT & engineering technical support services to multiple broadcast radio studios, broadcast transmission locations, and our team members who work at these facilities. In this role, an engineer is expected to work on computer systems, IT systems & electronics on a daily basis.

The broadcast regional engineer will be based in the fast-growing Fredericksburg area alongside the WPER radio team as the only engineer for the geographic area. The position requires travel in Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina. Most travel is within one to three hours from Fredericksburg and occurs two to three times per week. Because we broadcast 24/7, the position involves being on call for critical emergency situations.

Experience with electronics and IT/computer systems is required. Being a fast learner is stressed as the industry and technology is constantly changing. Additional experience with radio-frequency electronics/transmitters, mechanical, & electrical systems are a plus but not required. This position does not require any past broadcasting experience and is a ‘behind the scenes’ role.

Applicants can apply by sending a resume and cover letter to David Hodges, [email protected].
