KWAVE is a commercial radio station licensed with the FCC. Our mission is to faithfully proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ through solid Biblical teaching and preaching. Our goal is “equipping the saints for the work of the ministry.” We are a wholly owned ministry of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa.
Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa is a Christ-centered ministry, led by the Holy Spirit. The ministry began with a church located in Costa Mesa, CA and has flourished and expanded into a multifaceted ministry which includes Christian Schools, Christian Conference Centers, a Bible College, a School of Worship, Christian Radio Stations, Christian radio programs, Christian book distribution, and Christian bookstores.
Position Purpose / Summary
Develop content and create specific program or ad content to further the mission of KWVE 107.9 and KSDW of delivering Worship and the Word to our listeners in Southern California as well as throughout the world via online streaming. The ideal candidate will be a minister of the Gospel in this position and will have a strong relationship with Jesus Christ.
Responsibilities / Duties / Functions / Tasks
- Agree with and live out the vision and values of CCCM as outlined in the Statement of Faith (www.cccm.com).
- Be an example to those who you come in contact and serve with by exuding the love of Christ.
- Understand that it is a privilege to serve the Lord in vocational ministry and that those who serve God on staff at CCCM are expected to embrace a high biblical, Christ-like standard of conduct and lifestyle, both public and personal.
- Board Operator for Pastors’ Perspective. Runs the audio console.
- Setup and operate remote connection unit for off-site live programs.
- Runs live or recorded shows in studios not assigned to Air Talent.
- Records produces and facilitates the following in-house programs: Come Together Live, Refuge Radio, Women You Should Know and The Update programs.
- Prepares studios required for the live or recorded show beforehand.
- Sets up console, mics, tv, computers, etc. that are required for the show.
- Starts preparation at least ½ hour before the show’s scheduled start.
- Makes sure show Guests are hospitably taken care of.
- Maintains professional demeanor before all studio guests and talent.
- Responsible to clean up studios after the show is finished.
- Starts, breaks, and ends live shows on time.
- Monitors appropriate audio levels both for recording and air, but also for affiliates.
- Records shows requiring a recording and gives recordings to whom the Production Manager designates.
- Backup Wide Orbit Traffic material number assigner.
- Backup for the recording, producing and editing of the daily KWAVE Scripture of the Day for radio.
- Immediately reports technical issues to the Engineering Department.
- And all other duties assigned by the Production Manager.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Must be able to meet deadlines
- Ability to juggle competing priorities
- Organized, dependable and detail oriented
- Be able to edit recordings for quality and consistency through the use of equalization and effects.
- Must have an enthusiastic positive attitude and able to be a team player
- Must be a great communicator and able to approach people
- Proven editing and written communication skills demonstrated through a portfolio of work.
Desired Qualifications / Skills
- Script Writing
- Proficiency in Adobe Audition
- Bachelor Degree desired in the field of radio production and/or digital media production
- Experience in digital/radio production
- Technical experience and good working knowledge of current broadcast recording and production equipment, automation, digital editing, board operation and studio and remote production and interview set-up preferred.
Physical Position Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; bend; kneel; climb; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Specific hearing abilities required include soft and loud sounds.
