KWND/Springfield (88.3 The Wind) and sister station KWFC/Springfield teamed up to help seniors in southwest Missouri “Beat the Heat” (picture at left) with a box fan collection drive this summer. The stations used five drop-off locations at senior centers in Springfield and three other communities to collect 207 new box fans. The fans were donated to the Senior Age Area Agency on Aging, and have been distributed to area residents who do not have air conditioning or cannot afford to run the it in their home.
