Jason Sharp has been chosen to replace the retired Dr. Paul Virts, as Sr. Vice President for Media for University of Northwestern. Virts retired late last year and is now with Advocace. Jason will oversee the 15 Northwestern Media station starting May 16th.
We are less than a week away from the start of Dove Awards Submissions for GMA Professional Members. On Friday, members will receive an email with log in credentials to begin the online submission process. You will be able to submit in categories 4-6, 8-42 during this round. The deadline to complete your submissions is May 20, 2016.
WDYN/Chattanooga Sonrise program host Earl Freudenberg will be inducted into the Tennessee Radio Hall of Fame. “It’s a real honor to be inducted into the Tennessee Radio Hall of Fame,” stated Mr. Freudenberg. “It’s also an honor to spread the Gospel through playing Southern Gospel music – a very important part of my 54-year career.”
More than 1.15 million concerned citizens have reportedly signed the American Family Association’s (AFA) #BoycottTarget pledge since the retail giant publicized its policy to allow self-identifying transgender individuals access to store bathrooms and fitting rooms that correspond with their own gender identity. In reporting the latest figures, AFA reiterated that the disagreement over the bathroom policy “does not reflect on the transgender community, but on the very real possibility that those with evil intentions will take advantage of a door that has been opened to them.”
Former WMHK/Columbia and KJIL/Mead personality Joe Polek checks in with HisAir.Net. Currently Joe is the “South Carolina Marketing Coordinator” for Bojangles’ Restaurants in charge of marketing for all 75 stores in the state. Joe says, “I absolutely LOVE my job, but I really miss radio too. I try to incorporate radio partnerships whenever I can. When WinterJam was in town, I got Sidewalk Prophets to come work the Drive-Thru for an hour at one of our stores.” Jow still has hand in Christian radio as he VoiceTracks evenings for KJIL and does some voice work for WKNZ/Medford (88.7 The Bridge).
