In Genesis 1:3, we
read the very words of God: “‘Let there be light,’ and there was
light.” There is power in the word of God.
As Christian
communicators, it is not only our duty, but it is also our delight
to be about the business of speaking the words of God. And that
goes without saying that not only should we be sharing them on the
air, but we should also be living them out in our “real life”
actions as well.
It is so important
that we tell the gospel story in all that we do.
In this time of
economic difficulty and political unrest, people are looking for
answers. They are asking the question: “Where can I go to find
peace and to find hope?” What an awesome statement. As Christian
radio operators, we must seize this opportunity in a big way. So,
here’s the challenge. Let’s bring this question a little closer to
home. How are you going about it? As an announcer? As PD?
As Traffic Reporter? As Board Chair? As GM?
I recently enjoyed a
conversation with Jim Kirkland, the General Manager of 106.9 The
Light (WMIT-FM in Black Mountain, NC). I was complimenting him
one of his announcers. Louis Grant does overnights at The Light.
Oh, he does a fine job of ‘back-selling’ songs and integrating
community events into his breaks. But more than that, it’s clear
that Louis has placed his faith in Jesus Christ and he makes no
bones about inviting others to do the same.
The Bible is God’s
truth. And we get the incredible opportunity to share it with any
and all who will listen. Therefore, we must always remember the
words of the Apostle Paul when he said, “For I am not ashamed of the
gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who
believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek” (Romans 1:16).
Let’s remember to
offer hope, so that many others will discover peace.
There’s power in
words. Speak life!
